EPDM and FKM sealing element All Viega MegaPress Transition couplings are made of zero-lead (ZL) bronze, a material that reduces the risk of corrosion when connecting dissimilar metals and features Smart Connect® technology to quickly detect unpressed connections. The couplings with EPDM sealing elements carry an NSF-61 rating for potable water. The models featuring an FKM sealing element can be used with approved compressed air and technical gasses, as well as hydronic and chilled water. The product is a version of technology originally developed for the European market and will be available in North America for the first time this fall. It allows homeowners to control temperatures by individual room or zone via thermostats in each room or remotely through a website. It’s programmable and, like “smart thermostats,” it can over time anticipate homeowners’ patterns and preferences and adjust temperatures accordingly. It also can be used to lower energy use when a homeowner is on vacation or absent for a period of time. It has been proven to reduce energy use by 30 percent.
