Viega LLC’s innovative Smart Control for water-based radiant systems gives homeowners an unprecedented level of control over house temperatures while also saving installers time and money.

Smart Control radiant system

The Smart Control is on display at Viega’s booth (N1715) at the International Builders’ Show (IBS), Feb. 19-21, 2019 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The product is a version of technology originally developed for the European market and will be available in North America for the first time this fall.

It allows homeowners to control temperatures by individual room or zone via thermostats in each room or remotely through a website. It’s programmable and, like “smart thermostats,” it can over time anticipate homeowners’ patterns and preferences and adjust temperatures accordingly. It also can be used to lower energy use when a homeowner is on vacation or absent for a period of time. It has been proven to reduce energy use by 30 percent.

Superior heating and cooling technology

Homeowners and builders already love radiant systems for their even comfort, low maintenance and efficiency"

Homeowners and builders already love radiant systems for their even comfort, low maintenance and efficiency,” said Joshua Quint, product manager, heating and cooling at Viega LLC. “Smart Control will make it easier for them to customize the systems to maximize savings while still providing superior heating and cooling.

Smart Control also benefits homebuilders, designers and installers. The auto-balancing base unit is installed next to the manifold and eliminates the time-consuming process of manually balancing loops in the system, allowing for quicker installation and shorter deadlines.

Heating and plumbing systems expert

The technology is also available for radiant cooling with the addition of a humidity sensor. Viega is a renowned international manufacturer of plumbing and HVAC solutions. Viega sells PEX for radiant heating and plumbing systems along with copper, stainless, and metal alloy pipe along with mechanical pressure fitting products.
