Air Quality Management Firm, PuriFi Labs Announces Formation Of The Scientific Advisory Board

PuriFi Labs, who creates whole-building air and surface purification systems, has announced the formation of its new Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), comprised of prominent research experts and pioneers in the field of plasma physics. The SAB will help guide the company's journey toward cleaning indoor air of tested particulates, viruses, bacteria, odors, smoke, mold, ozone, and harmful chemicals. Americans, on average, spend approximately 90 percent of their time indoors, where the concentrations of some pollutants are often two to five times higher than typical outdoor concentrations, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Combating the spread of COVID-19 virus indoors With the formation of SAB, the company intends to expand the scientific depth and capabilities of air purification systems The ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has only increased the percentage of time spent indoors in 2020, bringing air purification to the forefront of conversation, as it relates to combating the spread of COVID-19. With the formation of PuriFi Labs' SAB, the company intends to further expand the scientific depth and capabilities of its existing air purification systems and strive toward improving the quality of air and life in homes and commercial buildings across the country. Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) “The creation of the Scientific Advisory Board is an exciting next step in PuriFi Labs' capabilities and how we develop and test our air purification systems. All board members are recognized leaders within their respective fields of research," said Tim Bender, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PuriFi Labs. Tim Bender adds, “We're thrilled to leverage their guidance and expertise in clinical and scientific excellence as we continue to expand our research and development efforts.” The members of PuriFi Labs' Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) include: Rick Greenwood, External Affairs Officer at California Association of Public Health Laboratory Directors, Professor of Epidemiology and Microbiology at UCLA, and member of California COVID Task Force. Michael Keidar, Professor of Plasma Engineering at A. James Clark School of Engineering at George Washington University, Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions in Radiation and Plasma Medical Sciences, President of the Electric Rocket Propulsion Society. Ronald Adrian, Ira A. Fulton Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and School of Engineering Matter, Transport, and Energy at Arizona State University. Michael Osborne, Ph.D. Chemical Engineering, Former President of Purafil, a molecular filtration company, and Former VP of R&D at AAF International, a member of the Daikin Group, the globally renowned air filtration company. Kirsten Shaw, Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant and Energy Auditor, Licensed Residential and Light Commercial General Contractor, Healthy Building Specialist at Howard Air. Science-based research and testing Science-based research and testing is of great value and importance to the team at PuriFi Labs Science-based research and testing is of great value and importance to the team at PuriFi Labs. The company's leadership will work closely with the new Scientific Advisory Board members on expanding science-based methods for validating in-room, real-world performance of air purification products and strategies, and additional product development and lab testing, following high-level advice and scientific review. Currently, there is no universal solution or vaccine available in the market to prevent coronavirus infections from spreading, including the COVID-19 virus. PuriFi Labs is working to accelerate testing on SARS-CoV-2 in support of the best indoor air quality possible, under the guidance of the Security Advisory Board. Air purification and HVAC control systems expert PuriFi Labs brings together decades of experience in air purification, automated control systems, IoT (internet of things), and multiple projects completed for NASA and the United States Department of Defense (DOD). PuriFi Lab's patented technology was rigorously researched and tested in commercial and residential applications for more than two years before being made available to consumers.

Reliable Controls Announces Firmware Manager Michael Osborne’s Appointment To BACnet Chair

Reliable Controls announced that Michael Osborne, the company’s Firmware Manager, accepted the appointment of BACnet Chair. Developed under the auspices of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), BACnet is an American national standard, a European standard, a national standard in more than 30 countries, and an ISO global standard. BACnet has been an international standard since 2003, and has 877 listed products from 180 manufacturers, with over 1,000 vendor IDs from 50 different countries. Protocols for computer equipment for HVAC The purpose of the BACnet standard is to define data communication services and protocols for computer equipment used for monitoring and control of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC&R) and other building systems such as lighting, access control, elevators, and life safety. It also defines an abstract, object-oriented representation of information communication between such equipment, thereby facilitating the application and use of digital control technology in buildings. The BACnet protocol is supported and maintained by ASHRAE Standing Standard Project Committee 135. Michael’s appointment as Chair positions him as the Administrator of Standing Standards Project Committee (SSPC) 135, from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2021. There is typically a progression of positions from Secretary, to Vice Chair, to Chair—a nine-year commitment in total, with three years in each position. SSPC 135 meets four times per year, where up to 50 people interested in BACnet discuss and drive the ongoing evolution of the standard. BACnet growth “In 2012, I was honored to be asked to be the Secretary of SSPC 135,” Michael said. “By accepting this position, Reliable Controls Corporation and I were making a nine-year commitment to being a major part of the continued growth and success of BACnet. I completed my three-year terms as Secretary and Vice Chair and, on July 1, 2018, started my final, three-year term as Chair. I am honored to be allowed to take on this role and excited to take on this new challenge.” Reliable Controls congratulated Michael on the achievement.
