Fujitsu UK Strengthens Team With Key Appointments

Fujitsu General Air Conditioning UK has made three key appointments to further strengthen its team across a broad range of areas. Hayley Kent joins as Area Sales Manager (Midlands). She was previously a Business Development Manager at Daikin UK and prior to that spent 13 years in sales roles for Mitsubishi Electric. Extensive industry experience She said: “I am delighted to join Fujitsu and work with a product range that has already had so much success through wholesalers and distribution partners. I will be looking to develop our brand further with a focus on direct sales, allowing contractors to become more familiar with the range of products that Fujitsu has to offer.’’ Rob Broughton arrives at Elstree as Applied Specialist. He brings extensive industry experience, having worked for a number of contractors and distributors, including Space Air and Ultimate Air, in commissioning, technical and project roles. Significant and positive impact He said: “Having previously enjoyed working alongside the Fujitsu team at a distributor, I jumped at the chance to join the company. I’m enjoying the challenge of learning more about the applied product range and working on the ‘other side’ for a manufacturer.’’ Jay Soni joins Fujitsu as a Pre-Sales Specification Engineer and is relishing the challenge of creating designs for customers. He was previously a Technical Sales Engineer at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHIAE). Deane Flint, Chief Operating Officer at Fujitsu, said: “We have added invaluable experience and skills to the team with these latest appointments and we look forward to seeing all three make a significant and positive impact at an exciting time for the business.’’

Cool Designs Boosts VRF, Air Source Support Across UK

Cool Designs Ltd, the independent air conditioning and heat pump distributor, is expanding its technical and customer support team in response to continuing growth across the UK.  Clive Dearlove Clive Dearlove joins as Contracts Manager, with a particular focus on applied projects involving chillers and air source heat pumps. He will manage contracts from the point of order through to delivery, and provide after-sales technical support.  With 30 years of experience in the trade, including service with global brands, Clive has in-depth knowledge of all aspects of chiller and HVAC plant installation, servicing, application, and troubleshooting.  Nathan Ormson, Colin Reeves Nathan draws on his considerable experience across DX air conditioning technologies Nathan Ormson is appointed Technical Support Engineer and will act as a central hub for CDL's technical team. In the office-based role, Nathan draws on his considerable experience across DX air conditioning technologies and heads up CDL's technical support line, freeing up and supporting the company's three-strong technical team for customer site visits.   Colin Reeves joins as a Technical Pre-Sales Engineer to assist customers and CDL colleagues in selecting and applying Toshiba and Fujitsu VRF systems and applied equipment.  design and delivery of projects Darrel Birkett, CDL Managing Director, said, "The latest additions to the team further strengthen our ability to support customers in the design and delivery of outstanding projects across the full range of technologies, covering air conditioning, ventilation, applied systems, and heat pumps."  He added, "The range of equipment options we offer, from leading brands, such as Toshiba, Carrier, CIAT, and Fujitsu, lends themselves to integrated projects involving several technologies." efficiency optimization Darrel Birkett continues, "As the drive to net zero accelerates, supporting customers with total solutions that dovetail seamlessly will be increasingly important." He adds, "Our expanded technical support team has the skills and knowledge to do this, with benefits for installers and end users looking to optimize efficiency and reduce carbon."  new branch CDL recently opened a major new branch at Holmes Chapel, near Crewe. The facility, located near the M6, includes a showroom, offices, workshop, and conference center, plus an additional 11,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space, enabling CDL to increase stocks and further enhance support for its rapidly growing customer base. The move and appointments are the latest milestones in a journey that has seen CDL develop from being a small NE regional air conditioning supplier in 2003 to a national distributor with a turnover approaching £30 million, supporting customers across the UK.

Fujitsu's J-Series VRF Launches With R32 Refrigerant And Upgrades

Fujitsu has launched the latest version of its award-winning J-Series heat pump mini VRF system operating on lower-GWP R32 refrigerant and delivering significant efficiency improvements.  The AIRSTAGE J-VS is the result of two decades of development and multiple upgrades as 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the product affectionately dubbed 'Little Napoleon'.  AIRSTAGE J-VS Aimed at small to medium-sized commercial applications or large residential spaces, the J-VS is available in capacities from 12-15kW.  The compact, single-fan chassis has a volume of just 0.3 m3 (17% less than the previous model) and a weight of only 74kg, aiding installation in tight spaces.  seasonal efficiencies This line-up includes an additional 1.7 kW model and, due to heat exchanger optimization Up to 13 indoor units can be connected from a new range including compact 4-way cassettes, low static slim ducted, and high-efficiency ducted units, alongside wall-mounted options. This line-up includes an additional 1.7 kW model and, due to heat exchanger optimization, a new 1.1kW slim ducted unit.  Compressor innovation improves seasonal efficiencies up to a possible 8.27 SEER (up to 36% increase from the previous model) and 5.37 SCOP (up to 33% increase from the previous model).  J-series upgrade Martyn Ives, Commercial Director at Fujitsu, said, "The J-series has proved itself over two decades and continuous improvements have maintained its position as a leader in its class." He adds, "This latest upgrade, together with the new compatible indoor units, will ensure that it remains a strong proposition for a wide range of commercial projects."  IEC 603352-40 The system meets environmental safety standards specified in IEC 603352-40 for the use of R32 refrigerant.  Newly designed components include safety shut-off valves and leak detection sensors, which aid application when the design is deemed to be above the concentration limits of R32 in the event of a refrigerant leak. In addition, the refrigerant charge of the J-VS is 32% less than the previous model.  Compressor control technology That rotational speeds can be reduced without a decrease in equivalent performance A new compressor featuring improved compact windings and a larger displacement means that rotational speeds can be reduced without a decrease in equivalent performance. Compressor control technology has also extended the minimum operating speed of the compressor to 15rps, managing low load conditions more efficiently and effectively than previous versions.  An elevation difference Integrated refrigerant storage devices, which prevent liquid slugging to the compressor during low load conditions, allow for up to 120m of liquid refrigerant pipe, with a longest length of 50m and a 30m elevation between indoor and outdoor units. An elevation difference of 15m is possible between indoor units.  Redesigned cooling channels and suction line inverter PCB cooling allow the unit to be placed in higher temperature locations without the risk of electrical damage caused by overheating. This enables the installer to take advantage of the fan’s 30Pa external static pressure capability, allowing installation in restricted locations using discharge air ducting.
