The Wilo Group celebrates the official opening of its new subsidiary Wilo Chile SpA in the Chilean capital. "The Wilo Group has been active in Latin America for over 20 years. With the investment in our subsidiary in Chile, we are taking into account the strategic importance of this market", said Svenja Ahlburg, Group Director Sales Area Latin America in her opening speech. "In recent years Chile has developed into one of the most stable and fastest-growing countries in Latin America, thus supporting our strategy for profitable growth in the region".

"I am proud to have accompanied the history of Wilo in Chile from the very beginning," emphasized Gustavo Ramos, Managing Director of Wilo in Chile in his opening speech. "Since our market entry in 2015, Wilo has developed into a renowned supplier of highly efficient pumps and pump systems for building services, water management, and industry. With the official opening today, we are laying the foundation stone for long-term success in Chile".

Artificial intelligence

Around 100 invited guests from politics and business attended the ceremony, including the head of the protocol department of the German Embassy in Chile, Ms. Kerstin Graumann. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of German companies in Chile.

Chile has a strong position in industries that are trendsetting for Wilo, such as the wine industry, fish-farming or mining. "Investments in traditional industries have given Chile an innovative lead in South America. For Wilo as a digital pioneer in the pump industry, this results in a strong growth potential, especially for our smart, digitally networked pumps and pumping systems. The digital economy and the use of artificial intelligence are constantly growing in Chile," continued Svenja Ahlburg.

Despite the current challenging economic and political environment and social strife, Wilo has remained on a growth course in Chile. "We have made a good start into 2020 and were able to further strengthen our long-standing business relationships," continued Gustavo Ramos. "For the current year, we see particularly great growth potential in aquaculture. Chile is the second largest producer of farmed salmon in the world after Norway. Here we have a great opportunity to make a contribution to reliable and more energy-efficient salmon production with our Wilo pump solutions".
