The Wilo Group and electrolyser producer Enapter agreed to a joint cooperation last week. The goal is to define possible areas of cooperation in the hydrogen sector and to generate synergies that profit both sides. The partners see mutual potentials above all in projects to build an infrastructure for the production and transportation of hydrogen.
Governments worldwide are passing recovery packages with middle- and long-term national strategies aiming to aid hydrogen technologies in actively protecting the climate. Wilo has long since recognized hydrogen as the energy source of the future. “As part of the Wilo Group’s commitment to climate protection, we will be active in the hydrogen sector as a future-looking technology in the future. Our products and solutions can make a crucial contribution to the production, distribution and application of blue and green hydrogen,” says Oliver Hermes, President and CEO of the Wilo Group.
modular electrolyser
Enapter boasts over 15 years of experience in the hydrogen sector, especially in electrolysis. Moreover, the AEM Electrolyser is the first modular electrolyser that uses green hydrogen instead of fossil fuels. Enapter is currently manufacturing in Pisa, Italy. But in the so-called “climate community” of Saerbeck in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Enapter Campus is currently being erected, which will comprise the company’s first large-scale production plant as well as a research center.
“In Wilo, we have found a cooperation partner who shares our sustainability goals,” says Sebastian-Justus Schmidt, Enapter Co-Founder and CEO. “The Enapter Campus will be powered 100 percent with local renewable energy. Our ultimate goal is for the entire production cycle to be climate-neutral. The Wilopark has always been a great inspiration in designing and implementing our campus.”
With the new cooperation, the Wilo Group is taking concrete steps to advance the topic hydrogen. “Wilo and Enapter are pioneers in the field.
