Viessmann has introduced the Vitovolt 300 solar PV system to the UK to make it easier for British home owners to cover as much of their electricity needs as possible through renewable energy.

The powerful and efficient, quality-assured photovoltaic solution comes with a 15-year product guarantee and incorporates a modular package of accessories that fit together seamlessly. The result is a Viessmann ecosystem for tailoring to the needs of individual households, which can include sustainable heating and electric vehicle charging, if desired.

Wired matching components

The Vitovolt 300 package is quick to install thanks to its plug-in solutions for electrical connections and fully wired matching components. Power storage can easily be added via a Viessmann-offered BYD Battery Box Premium with all the power flows of the PV and battery system able to be monitored through Viessmann's Energy Management System.

The PV package is also ideal for use with a Viessmann heat pump, enabling householders to generate electricity for use both as energy and heat, reducing running costs of the heat pump as well as energy costs for the entire home.

All elements are seamlessly controlled via the Viessmann One Base control platform, which, via the Viessmann ViCare app, allows customers to view and optimize the use of their self-generated energy, whether it be for domestic electricity consumption, storage, heat or mobility.

Heating and charging vehicles

Recent increases in energy prices mean the financial case for solar is stronger than ever before,” commented Viessmann UK Director of Sales, Chris Johnson.

Chris Johnson adds, “Plus, we’re using electricity more and more for heating and charging vehicles. The Vitovolt 300 offers a great foundation for UK homes to transition to renewable technology for heating and motoring. It’s a very attractive option for homeowners looking to reduce their reliance on energy companies while also increasing the sustainability and value of their property.”

The high-performance Vitovolt 300 product range includes monocrystalline modules with an output of up to 440 Wp guaranteed for up to 25 years. All modules are supplied with positive output tolerances, meaning that output will never be lower than specified but could be up to +5 Wp. Module efficiency are up to 21.3%.

Comprehensive quality assurance

A comprehensive quality assurance process ensures that the PV modules in the Vitovolt 300 series

A comprehensive quality assurance process ensures that the PV modules in the Vitovolt 300 series meet the highest standards, and all elements of the package are covered by Viessmann’s 15-year product guarantee and full manufacturer support. This gives customers the peace of mind of dealing with a large established company with a reputation for outstanding reliability.

A typical Vitovolt 300 package provides a photovoltaic output of 4 kWp, producing around 3800 kWh per year - well over the typical annual UK four-person household consumption level of 2,900 kWh, according to Ofgem. Any unused power can be stored in batteries or exported to the grid. If combined with a battery, EV charger and heat pump, where 100% of self-generated power can be used by the household, a system this size can generate an annual electricity saving of around £1,140.

Commercial and industrial premises

This brings a return on investment for the solar PV system of around ten years. Larger packages offer greater savings, as well as sufficient electricity for bigger families and providing more power for heat pumps and electric vehicles. The attractively designed Vitovolt 300 modules, which have a black anodised frame, especially dark cells and a black Tedlar foil, are suitable for installation on the roofs of detached houses, apartment buildings and commercial and industrial premises.

Table illustrating different scenarios for the utilization of self-generated electricity, for a typical Vitovolt 300 solar PV domestic installation: the four scenarios show how it is possible to add elements to the PV system in order to utilize more of the self-generated electricity, rather than export it back to the grid. In the fourth scenario, where both an electric vehicle and heat pump are in use, it is possible to achieve almost 100% self-utilization of the electricity generated, saving £1,140 per year.
