SPX Cooling Technologies, Inc., a full-line, full-service industry provider of the design and manufacture of evaporative cooling towers, announces the expansion of the Marley DT Fluid Cooler product line. New Marley DT Fluid Cooler models incorporate finned coils that expand thermal performance and permit dry operation during a broader range of ambient temperatures.

The new models can more effectively reject heat without evaporating water at ambient temperatures up to 20 degrees higher than with bare tube coils, which helps reduce costs associated with water usage, water treatment and pump energy. Other DT fluid cooler models using bare tube coils can satisfy the cold-water setpoint with dry capabilities at colder ambient temperatures.

heat transfer coils

In colder weather conditions, the fluid cooler offers higher dry operation capacity than fill/coil hybrid coolers. It delivers lower fan energy costs compared to forced-draft coolers, and reduces system components compared to combination open tower and plate heat exchanger (PHE) systems. The Marley DT Fluid Cooler is an induced-draft counterflow fluid cooler.

Available worldwide, the performance of the DT Fluid Cooler is certified by the Cooling Technology Institute (CTI)

Its closed-circuit design keeps the process fluid in a clean closed loop. Process fluid is cooled by recirculating water that flows over the outside of heat transfer coils as air induced through the cooler evaporates a small portion of the recirculating water, rejecting heat to the atmosphere. Heavy-duty construction, high-performance design and a five-year mechanical warranty ensure consistent cooling over a wide range of flow and temperature requirements and over a long lifecycle.

Available worldwide, the performance of the DT Fluid Cooler is certified by the Cooling Technology Institute (CTI). It is also available in a wide range of box sizes, from 8.5 x 9 feet to 12 x 18 feet (2.6 x 2.9 meters to 3.7 x 5.5 meters) to meet a range of cooling requirements. It features robust galvanized steel construction with high-quality mechanical and heat transfer systems.

Stainless steel component options allow customization to address demanding environmental conditions and extend service life. The integral Marley Geareducer Gear Drive system delivers reliable performance with low maintenance requirements, including a five-year warranty. Low-sound fans are standard on all models.

self-draining spray headers

The fluid cooler’s PVC triple-pass inlet louvers help control splashout and help minimize sunlight exposure to the collection basin, limiting potential for algae growth, while offering easy access to the collection basin from all sides. The DT Fluid Cooler also features self-draining spray headers and large orifice spray nozzles, which help prevent debris build-up and clogging, and limit potential icing.
