Sensitron, part of Halma plc, launched the SMART 3 Blizzard at Intersec 2025, a new gas detector for the HVAC-R industry. The SMART 3 Blizzard provides a simpler, more reliable way to monitor refrigerant gases by combining advanced technology with user-friendly features.

What makes it unique is its wireless interface. Users can manage the device remotely, with no need for physical access. This makes routine activities easier and safer, reducing exposure to sensitive parts.

Sensitron’s commitment

SMART 3 Blizzard incorporates “SENSE”—an advanced solution that enhances user interaction

Marco Passadori, Sensitron’s Managing Director, explains, “The idea for the wireless interface came from one of our engineers, and we immediately saw its potential. SENSE, our new interface, improves safety and usability, marking the first step toward a safer world, for both the environment and the workers using these systems every day.”

The SMART 3 Blizzard incorporates “SENSE”—an advanced solution that enhances user interaction, making it easier to manage settings and access real-time data. This feature reflects Sensitron’s commitment to customer-centric solutions, offering an intuitive user experience for a safer, more efficient work environment.

Reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Emanuele Barbieri, HVAC-R Global Account Manager at Sensitron, adds, “SENSE isn’t just a name; it’s how we connect with our customers. It’s about designing a product that not only detects gases but understands how users interact with it. This is the future.”

Equipped with infrared sensors for high accuracy and long lifespan, the SMART 3 Blizzard is SIL2 certified. It detects refrigerant gases like R32, R454B, and R410A. This helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to sustainability goals.

Demand for sustainability

SMART 3 Blizzard is an affordable, high-performance key that meets regulatory needs

By detecting refrigerant gases like R32 and R410A early, we can cut down on harmful emissions and make a real difference in protecting the environment,” says Passadori.

Designed for use in HVAC-R systems, as well as non-classified areas like onboard machinery and machinery rooms, the SMART 3 Blizzard is an affordable, high-performance solution that meets both regulatory requirements and the growing demand for sustainability.

Shift toward wireless technology

With customizable functions like adjustable alarm thresholds, downloadable test certificates, multilingual support, and password-protected maintenance reports, the SMART 3 Blizzard gives users greater control.

The shift toward wireless technology is an important step for the industry, and the SMART 3 Blizzard reflects this evolution,” says Barbieri. “We’re looking forward to seeing how it enhances gas detection practices and supports safer, more efficient operations.”

Advanced features to improve safety

The SMART 3 Blizzard introduces advanced features to improve safety, sustainability, and efficiency, offering a reliable solution for the HVAC-R industry and beyond.

They can view Sensitron’s SMART 3 Blizzard at Intersec 2025, taking place from January 14–16, 2025, in Hall 4, Stand B22.
