Schneider Electric, the provider in digital transformation of energy management and automation has been shortlisted for the award for best breakthrough in operations and performance at the Railway Industry Innovation Awards.

Nominated for its Compact PSP - a product enabling customers to completely rethink how they approach signaling systems, Schneider Electric’s commitment to ensuring safety, security and reliability of rail networks has been recognized with this nomination.

Signaling systems

Its Compact PSP offers a solution to Network Rail that packs all the features of a full-sized PSP such as a UPS, monitoring and connection into its intelligent infrastructure in the size of a standard location case - and at a fraction of the cost.

Network Rail has benefited from a much a lower environmental impact than a conventional PSP, both in terms of initial installation and operations. It also gives Network Rail scope to completely rethink how they approach signaling systems. The Compact PSP has now been installed in locations all around the UK rail network and gained Network Rail product approval in January 2019.

Supporting the rail industry

The UK rail market is under increasing pressures today from passengers and the rail freight industry to provide a reliable, yet safe service. These awards are an excellent way to bring together companies and individuals leading the industry into a prosperous and exciting future”, said Peter Selway, Rail Segment Marketing Manager at Schneider Electric. “We are proud to have been and want to continue in supporting the industry with our smart solutions needed to drive new levels of efficiency. Demand for innovation in the transport industry is at all-time high and companies and government bodies will need to collaborate to guide this industry into a greener and more sustainable future. Well done to everyone who has played a role in this so far.”

Designing safer signaling systems

The Railway Industry Innovation Awards recognizes and celebrates the achievements of companies pushing the industry forward with innovative, forward-thinking ideas.

Network Rail has challenged the rail industry to help ‘provide a safer, more reliable & more efficient railway for the 21st century’. Schneider Electric has stepped up to this challenge by revolutionizing how signaling systems can be designed, dramatically reducing the cost.
