This year Go Green in the City had over 23,000 young innovators from 165 countries take part, including 57% women.

Powering The Digital Economy

The UK finalists have earned the opportunity to present their ideas to some of the industry figures at Schneider Electric’s Global Innovation Summit 2019, a 2-day event on the 2nd and 3rd of October in Barcelona (Spain).

Ahead of the presentation, they are meeting their Schneider Electric mentor, Barry Grier, Regional Director – North at Schneider’s Leeds site to share thoughts, insights and ideas on the challenges and opportunities of powering the digital economy.

Creating An Energy-Efficient Future

Mike Hughes, Zone President UK & Ireland, Schneider Electric commented, “This generation is more socially and politically engaged than those that came before. They understand the massive challenge the UK and the world faces in creating a sustainable future. We’re delighted and very proud that we have finalists from the UK for such a prestigious and global competition with so many applicants. We hope that whoever wins, we’ll see their ideas and insights help to create a more energy-efficient future.”

Rachel Ramage, University of Leeds, also shared her excitement at becoming a finalist. “It’s been a great journey so far and I can’t wait to share my thoughts at the summit. It’s been amazing to see our ideas become larger and more defined as the process has continued. The competition is a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet and learn from some of the leading figures in sustainability – I can’t wait.”
