RSES is happy to announce the launch of its updated Safety for the HVACR Technician eLearning course on its new and improved platform.

Interactive online course

This is an interactive online course covering safety facts, guidelines, and recommendations for the HVACR service technician under the following eight modules:

  • Personal Protective Equipment: Covers the types of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by OSHA standards
  • Tools and Test Instruments: Provides safety tips for using tools and test instruments
  • Electrical Safety: Covers hazards and their effect on the human body and precautions related to such hazards
  • Fan Safety: Introduces installation, maintenance, and general precautions for air-moving equipment
  • Soldering, Brazing, and Welding: Describes hazards during soldering, brazing, and welding and related precautions
  • Fire Safety Describes fire safety and related precautions and rules
  • Ladders, Scaffolds, and Lifts: Offers guidelines for safe use of ladders prescribed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
  • Material Handling: Covers the correct methods of moving materials manually and moving materials using machinery

Safety training

Each module, which may be purchased individually or together as one bundled course, includes an end-of-module certificate upon the successful completion of an exam. The course is approved for 16 NATE CEHs or 1.6 CEUs. All modules together provide approximately 12–20 hours of safety training.

This online course and the individual modules closely resemble the RSES Safety for the HVACR Service Technician manual, however, the eLearning option further supplements and stresses the safety issues related to the HVACR industry.
