Rheem has been exclusively selected to provide its Ruud Professional Ultra Hybrid Electric Water Heaters for a new Reserve Rewards Program with Arizona Public Service (APS).

As part of APS’s energy storage and load management program initiative to optimized energy management, the Reserve Rewards Program, which launched in February 2019, offers eligible customers a free water heater with smart monitoring technology from Rheem in exchange for APS to manage the heating of the water heater for the life of the unit.

APS will heat the water during off-peak hours to shift energy use from high-demand periods for a more cost-effective approach that leverages renewable energy already on the grid. Due to the efficiency and size of the tank, the consumer will have access to adequate hot water whenever needed.

Rheem’s EcoNet Smart Monitoring technology

A key system feature is the built-in leak detection and alert which is sent to the LDC screen display

Our customers today want more than just reliable power; they want cutting edge technology and they want to know how to manage their energy use to best fit their lifestyle,” said Marc Romito, APS Director of Customer Technology. “These programs offer that, while also helping us learn more about how customers interact with different technologies to more efficiently use the renewable energy already on our grid.”

The Energy Star rated Professional Hybrid featuring Rheem’s EcoNet Smart Monitoring technology is the most efficient water heater in its class, offering up to $4,000 in reduced operating costs over the life of the unit.

Built-in leak detection

A key system feature is the built-in leak detection and alert which is sent to the LDC screen display as well as directly to the user’s mobile app. Users control system features and can access usage reports from anywhere in the world for maximum energy savings and peace of mind.

The rewards program is currently available in Phoenix, Casa Grande and Yuma for a limited time only. Eligible program participants will receive a top of the line hybrid heat pump and free professional installation.
