The HLR 100Z load reduction module cleans indoor air using EnVerid Systems’ sorbent ventilation technology. Similar in size and sound to VRF terminal units, the HLR 100Z fits inside most plenums and mechanical spaces serving one or more zones.

It is said to work with most commercial building HVAC systems and is suited for those served by VRF, active chilled beams, water source heat pumps, and other de-coupled heating and cooling systems.

HLR 100Z modules

Without paying any byproducts, the HLR 100Z then forces clean air back into the return air stream or space

One or more HLR 100Z modules can be installed on the return side of an air handling unit, a fan coil unit, or independent of the AHU/FCU. Air is drawn into the HLR 100Z by internal fans, which push the air through sorbent filters that capture and remove all the contaminants of concern from the air stream.

Without producing any byproducts, the HLR 100Z then pushes clean air back into the return air stream or space. By cleaning recirculated air, outside air ventilation rates can be safely reduced by up to 85%, and new HVAC equipment can be downsized, using the ASHRAE Standard 62.1 IAQ Procedure.

HVAC system electrical requirements

According to EnVerid, each HLR 100Z can offset 3-15 tons of peak cooling load and reduce HVAC energy use by up to 40%. This in turn can reduce HVAC system electrical requirements by up to 40A, refrigerant charge by up to 10lb, and system cost by up to 30%.

"As the market has moved to smaller, decentralized HVAC system designs, EnVerid has responded with new products to simplify and expand the applications that can be served with our innovative sorbent ventilation technology that is at the core of all HLR modules," said Christian Weeks, CEO of EnVerid Systems.
