Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems, through its brand RC, has supplied the IT cooling system for a data center at Schipol Airport. The datacenter operator acquired the datacenter in April 2016, with the intent to bring it up to date and to enlarge the available floor space. From 1,000 square meters of space, they increased the total area to more than 4,500 square meters.

NEXT EVO units

The datacenter operator additionally wanted to revise and re-install the entire cooling system with the aim of achieving a low PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) for both existing and new customers and thus significantly reducing energy costs in terms of cooling. At the same time, they wanted to increase the power density per square meter to between 1.6 and 1.8 kW for greater efficiency.

For this reason, the IT Cooling system is based on RC 6 GLIDER EVO free-cooling chillers and 40 NEXT EVO water chilled close control units was chosen. NEXT EVO units were supplied with the air intake from the top and air delivery from the bottom of the unit.
