Food dealer partner Mid State Thermo King recently ensured that 100,000 more meals could be provided to those in need. The dealership donated $2,500 to four different food banks – one in Montgomery, Alabama; one in Birmingham, Alabama; one in the Atlanta area; and one in Greenville, South Carolina. No doubt, $10,000 can do a lot of good at local food banks, especially with the unprecedented demands they are facing due to COVID-19.
Appreciation Message
Never has the need been greater for support of the area food banks as Elizabeth Wix, Director of Partnerships at the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, a Feeding America affiliate and supplier of meals to 230 food pantries, shelters, and children’s programs in 12 counties, wrote to the dealership team. “Mid State Thermo King, you have provided urgently needed assistance to parents who suddenly lost their jobs and couldn’t afford to feed their families … to children who aren’t receiving school meals … and to seniors who are hungry, frightened, and alone.”
“We have never seen an emergency of this scale – and I don’t know how long it will last. But your kindness has already helped provide food to people struggling with hunger in Central Alabama.”
Doing More
Mid State Thermo King also lent a refrigerated trailer to a food pantry in Lynn Haven, Florida, recently, the same pantry that has supported pop-up pantries held at the Trane facility.
