LUX Products Corporation is proud to announce that its top-selling smart thermostats are now ENERGY STAR® certified.

ENERGY STAR is a joint partnership program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy that helps businesses and individuals save energy and protect the environment through energy-efficient products, homes, and buildings.

The LUX KONO, LUX KONO Pro Edition, LUX GEO, and LUX GEOx have all earned their ENERGY STAR certification.

EPA Tested

Smart thermostats are a category that ENERGY STAR sees tremendous value when it comes to helping homeowners save energy. To achieve certification, ENERGY STAR products must be third-party certified based on testing in EPA-recognized laboratories.

In addition to up-front testing, ENERGY STAR products are subject to off–the–shelf verification testing each year. The goal of this testing is to ensure that changes or variations in the manufacturing process do not undermine a product’s qualification with ENERGY STAR requirements.

The program’s emphasis on testing, third–party review, and compliance screening bolsters its integrity and ensures that consumers can trust ENERGY STAR certified products, homes, and commercial facilities to deliver the energy savings promised by the label.

Increase In Demand

There has been a significant increase in smart thermostat purchases over the past two years

We are proud that our suite of four smart thermostats has received ENERGY STAR certification,” said Rob Munin, CEO of LUX Products Corporation.

There has been a significant increase in smart thermostat purchases over the past two years as consumers become aware of their flexibility and personalization to control comfort and savings; whether home or away.

Confidence In Quality And Reliability

Rob Munin continues, “A smart thermostat is one of the first smart entry products into creating a smart home.

Choosing a smart thermostat that is ENERGY STAR certified gives homeowners confidence in the quality and reliability of their purchase and it highlights demonstrated energy savings and environmental benefits.

This certification just furthers our commitment to offering innovative, high-quality home comfort solutions to the marketplace.

Saving Energy

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and U.S. Department of Energy, if everyone used a smart thermostat, we would save 56 trillion BTUs of energy and offset 13 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions each year, equivalent to the emissions of 1.2 million vehicles.

To help in this cause, ENERGY STAR certified smart thermostats are required to:

  • Work as a basic thermostat in absence of connectivity to the service provider.
  • Give residents some form of feedback about the energy consequences of their settings.
  • Provide information about HVAC energy use, such as monthly run time.
  • Provide the ability to set a schedule.
  • Provide the ability to work with utility programs to prevent brownouts and blackouts, while preserving consumers’ ability to override those grid requests.

In addition to these requirements, they must meet additional temperature accuracy and standby criteria outlined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

ENERGY STAR certified smart thermostats are also designed to be compatible with rebate programs sponsored by local utilities.
