It’s too early to predict what winter will bring, but Isaac is already thinking about optimizing users’ home's comfort and safety.
- Reverse the Ceiling Fans
Here’s an easy way to circulate warm air in the home. The fan blades should be running in a clockwise direction. This action pushes rising heat back down into the room.
- Prevent Ice Dams
Were icicles hanging around the home last year? It probably means warm air is leaking from the attic due to inadequate insulation. Insulate to prevent future heat loss and water damage.
- Seal around Windows and Doors
Use caulk to fill gaps between windows, door frames, and siding. Add weather stripping around doors to keep warm air in and cold air out.
- Disconnect Hoses, Drain Water From Pipes
If the home doesn’t have frost-proof faucets, make sure to disconnect all hoses and drain any remaining water. Turn off the shut-off valve to outside faucets, too.
- Test Sump Pump
Test the sump pump by pouring a few gallons of water into the pit. Make sure it runs to avoid a wet autumn or winter melt from flooding the home. A backup sump pump can also easily be installed as a preventative measure.
- Precision Furnace Tune-Up (PTSI)
Before turning on the heat, consider having an Isaac expert perform an annual precision tune-up, safety inspection, and cleaning. It’s a smart way to ensure the furnace is working efficiently and safely.
