Humidity is the number of water molecules in the air around. Humidity level influences health. The average indoor humidity norm in summer is about 60% and in winter is about 40%.

Scientists' researches show that the humidity level outdoors is not always in these norms and cannot control that. But as we spent at least 12 hours per day at home, we should monitor indoor air humidity.

Why is it essential to control humidity?

If indoor humidity falls below this mark in the hot season, people feel sick, irritated and always want to sleep. If the humidity exceeds it, people can suffer pulmonary illnesses or even worse diseases. High or low moisture levels are also hazardous for any dwelling and furniture in it.

High humidity level

The over humidified rooms are always much hotter than outside, and it creates discomfort

A high humidity level creates the ideal breeding ground for bacteria. These bacterias cause fungus and mould to appear on walls, furniture, floor, or ceiling. It is also dangerous for people. Such an environment is a place for all kinds of infections and viruses to spread faster. That is why WHO recommends people not to crowd indoors, especially during the pandemic.

The bacteria that bread inside the highly humidified residence can cause pulmonary diseases and dyspnea. The over humidified rooms are always much hotter than outside, and it creates discomfort. The room becomes a giant greenhouse. The excess of water molecules in the air causes any wooden parts in the house to rot. It also swells the furniture and causes it to warp.

Low humidity level

A low humidity level is not less dangerous for people’s health. The people who live surrounded by not humidified air suffer from dry skin, chapped lips, or brittle hair. Their eyes’ cornea dries out faster, which is especially dangerous while working with the computer.

People who breathe dry air can suffer from cough and other larynx illnesses. They can have labored breathing. They also can have headaches, feel sick, tired, and sleepy. It is almost impossible to work in such conditions. Low humidity can also cause the wood to become more fragile. This is the reason why the wood can creak, shrink in size and break.

The signs of under or over humidity

Well-humidified space creates a perfect environment for any mental or physical activity. Only in such conditions, users can be the most productive. That is why it is vital to control the humidity level.

There are two types of humidity level issues indicators:

  • Personal well-being
  • Environmental condition

Personal sings

If users sweat inside the residence, users probably have issues with humidity

Dyspnea, irritation, breathing problems, cough, headache, sleepiness, and insomnia are the widespread signs of humidity disbalance. If users sweat inside the residence, users probably have issues with humidity.

Low or high humidity levels can also cause severe diseases such as asthma or heart arrhythmia. An organism is the best humidity detector.

Environmental signs

If the air is oversaturated by water molecules, windows can be covered with condensate. Also, mould or fungus can appear in the corners of the room or on the ceiling. If the humidity level is low, the plants can start to dry out or even die, and wallpapers can peel off. The wooden furniture, stairs, or floor parts can begin to creak.

What can to do with this problem?

People were not staying at home for so long a few decades ago, but the progress doesn’t standstill. Now, people have an opportunity to work, watch films and play video games at home. They spend most of their life inside, especially during the pandemic.

That is why The HVAC Service has to create perfect conditions indoors, to live long and comfortable lives. If the user's comfort is disturbed by any problems mentioned above, feel free to contact The HVAC Service.
