GE Appliances is proud to announce that it has received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the third year in a row. This annual benchmarking tool assesses the equality of a company’s policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) employees.
“The perfect score is a testament to our inclusive culture at GE Appliances,” said AJ Hubbard, Executive Director of Inclusion and Diversity. “Our commitment to supporting all of our employees leads to a place where people want to work and a team that is energized, innovative, and engaged in the success of our business.”
Domestic partner benefits
We know our company is better when everyone has a seat at the table and feels valued, included and inspired"
To earn a perfect score, businesses must have inclusive policies and practices for LGBTQ employees that include transgender-inclusive healthcare, domestic partner benefits, public engagement and community support for LGBTQ events, non-discriminatory hiring and recruitment, and LGBTQ supplier diversity initiatives. In addition, companies’ overall citizenship commitments are evaluated.
“Receiving a perfect store for three years in a row shows the depth of GE Appliances’ commitment to inclusion and diversity,” said Kevin Nolan, President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Appliances. “We know our company is better when everyone has a seat at the table and feels valued, included and inspired.”
Developing deeper relationships
This perfect score earns GE Appliances the distinction of being a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality. People refer to the CEI to learn how inclusive a company is in policy and practice toward LGBTQ employees. It is a trusted guide used to decide where to work and what businesses to support based on corporate values and culture.
“I am proud to work at a company that puts people first,” said Rick Hasselbeck, Chief Commercial Officer and co-executive sponsor of the Pride employee resource group. “When people know they are valued for their true and authentic selves, they develop deeper relationships with coworkers and leaders. They also become advocates for our company that attract new and diverse voices that make us stronger.” GE Appliances joins the ranks of more than 680 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year.
