GE Appliances, a Haier company, announces a 100 percent score on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2019 Corporate Equality Index (CEI). This annual benchmarking tool assesses the equality of a company’s policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) employees.

“The perfect score is a testament to the inclusive culture we foster at GE Appliances,” said AJ Hubbard, Executive Director of Inclusion and Diversity. “Our commitment of contributing to the wellbeing of our employees will result in a happier, more productive, more loyal workforce. We strive to have a team that is energized and engaged.”

inclusive and diverse culture

To receive a perfect score, businesses must have inclusive policies and practices for LGBTQ employees

To receive a perfect score, businesses must have inclusive policies and practices for LGBTQ employees that include transgender-inclusive healthcare, same-sex domestic partner benefits, public engagement and community support for LGBTQ events, nondiscriminatory hiring and recruitment, and LGBTQ supplier diversity initiatives.

“If inequality exists for one person at GE Appliances, then we are not working hard enough to create an inclusive and diverse culture where our employees can thrive and be their authentic selves,” says Rick Hasselbeck, Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Executive Sponsor of the Pride employee resource group.

support based on corporate values

This perfect score earns GE Appliances the distinction of being a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality. People refer to the CEI to learn how inclusive a company is in policy and practice toward LGBTQ employees. It is a trusted guide used to decide where to work and businesses to support based on corporate values and culture.

“This ranking affirms we have a strong foundation that allows us to continue retaining and attracting a diverse, talented workforce that reflects our values,” said Kevin Nolan, Chief Executive Officer. GE Appliances joins the ranks of over 560 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks recently.
