GE Appliances, a Haier company, announced that it will donate 100,000 surgical masks to healthcare facilities in five states where it manufactures appliances essential to keeping American families safe during the COVID-19 outbreak. Additionally, GEA will donate 100,000 pair of industrial gloves to the Commonwealth of Kentucky to be distributed throughout the state where needed.

Kentucky healthcare facilities will receive 90,000 masks, which is being coordinated through the Cabinet for Health and Family Services. The masks will also be donated to healthcare facilities in the following communities where GEA has manufacturing sites:

  • Decatur, Alabama
  • LaFayette, Georgia
  • Camden, South Carolina
  • Selmer, Tennessee

N95 masks donation

These donations are in addition to the 2,500 N95 masks the company provided to University of Louisville Hospital.

The company is also utilizing its 3-D printing operations at its global headquarters and FirstBuild, its microfactory tied to the maker community, to manufacture face shields, a portion of which will be donated to healthcare facilities through the University of Louisville.

Additionally, the company is donating its appliances to community organizations on the front lines of fighting the virus and recently launched its GEA4Heroes campaign with United Way Worldwide, an initiative that provides appliances to first responders and healthcare workers who need appliances more than ever to sanitize their clothing and dishes and to prepare meals for their families. For more information about the program, one may visit GE Appliances website.

Aid during COVID-19

GEA is also a founding member of the One Louisville Fund, contributing $100,000 to help community organizations and individuals impacted by COVID-19.

GE Appliances and its employees have been determined to be essential in helping combat COVID-19 under guidelines issued by the Department of Homeland Security because Americans need its appliances to preserve food and medicine and keep their homes and clothing clean.
