Gandon Transports, a French specialist in health product transport, has equipped its vehicle fleet with Carrier Transicold’s 30 Vector HE 19 units, helping to ensure the efficacy of critical temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals through accurate temperature controlled transport.
Carrier Transicold is part of Carrier Global Corporation, the renowned global provider of healthy, safe, sustainable and intelligent building and cold chain solutions.
Offering reliable refrigeration units
“At Gandon Transports, we have always selected the most powerful and most reliable refrigeration units,” said Joel Gandon, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Gandon Transports.
Pharmaceutical transport represents 70% of Gandon Transports’ revenues. The nearly 40-year old company is one of the largest transporters of temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products in France.
Gandon Transports’ strong logistics network
Gandon Transports carries out deliveries on behalf of major laboratories that demand the highest degree of efficiency
To achieve this level of performance, Gandon Transports relies on its own strong logistics network of 11 sites and a fleet of 117 semi-trailers, 26 commercial vehicles and 20 trucks. Every day, Gandon Transports carries out deliveries on behalf of major laboratories that demand the highest degree of efficiency, so as to ensure strict cold chain compliance. The Vector HE 19 unit’s next-generation technology helps Gandon Transports meet its objective to guarantee strict setpoint compliance for its many pharmaceutical customers.
The unit was optimized to reduce maintenance costs and also significantly reduces energy consumption by up to 30% in fuel and 19% in electric mode, or the equivalent of 5.4 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year, helping to contribute to Carrier Corporation’s tangible progress on reducing customers’ carbon footprint by one gigaton, as part of its 2030 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals.
Vector HE 19 units
Available in single and multi-temperature versions, the Vector HE 19 unit is also well suited for urban environments, since it is also available in a PIEK-certified version, not exceeding 60 decibels. The unit also features E-Drive, Carrier Transicold’s fully electric technology that can eliminate mechanical transmissions found in traditional belt-driven refrigeration systems.
Committed to offering its customers a high degree of adaptability, to address the various requirements for pharmaceutical transport, Gandon Transports requested Carrier Transicold to adapt the Vector HE 19 unit operating modes to meet its standards.
Gadon Transports – Carrier Transicold partnership
“We worked on this customized configuration in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic,” continued Joel Gandon, adding “Carrier Transicold knew just how to adapt to our specific requests.”
“Our collaboration with Gandon Transports is a good example of the adaptability of Carrier Transicold's teams. We listen to our customers to implement solutions that fully meet their expectations,” said Steve Vanhille, the Key Account Manager at Carrier Transicold France.
Carrier Transicold Pulsor units
For last-mile deliveries, Gandon Transports uses Carrier Transicold Pulsor units designed for small and medium-sized vehicles. The units also use E-Drive technology and guarantee the ability to maintain a constant, specific temperature during transport of the goods.
The Vector HE 19, Pulsor units and E-Drive technology are solutions offered through Carrier Corporation’s Healthy, Safe, Sustainable Cold Chain Program, in order to preserve and protect the supply of food, medicine and vaccines.
