Large companies in the commercial refrigeration sector will meet on September 17 and 18, 2019 in Madrid, Spain at the meeting of the Group of Commercial Refrigeration Equipment of Eurovent, Association of the European Industry for Indoor Air Conditioning (HVAC), Process Refrigeration and Food Cold Chain Technologies. One of the main agenda of the meeting is the determination of the parameters that the refrigerating exhibitors must follow for the definition of future energy standards.

Methodology on refrigerants with high slippage

The experts will specifically deal with issues related to aspects not defined in the regulations and / or that need to be clarified for the performance of furniture efficiency tests (Eg. Methodology on refrigerants with high slippage, construction criteria for the furniture and its equipment for the standardization of the tests, furniture with hot gas defrost and / or with defrost processes greater than 24 hours, aspects related to the calculation of the TDA of exhibitors with doors and gross volume, among others that influence eco-design criteria).

This Eurovent initiative will serve to clarify the situation, while taking into account the professional criteria of the cold industry

Refrigeration furniture manufacturers have long awaited the definition by European legislation on eco-design of the energy parameters that this type of equipment must follow, of food distribution. The delay in this specific group of equipment has introduced highly damaging elements of great uncertainty so that the industry can move forward with confidence in the changes that society is asking of us," said Manuel Lamúa, manager of AEFYT, Association of Cold Companies and their Technologies, which acts as host of the meeting, adding "We hope that this Eurovent initiative will serve to clarify the situation and to do so, also taking into account the professional criteria of the cold industry."

proposal for refrigeration furniture configuration

In this sense, the objective of the meeting is to shed light on the equipment, accessories and configurations that are not fully defined in the annex on refrigeration furniture of the EN / ISO23953-2 standard. In this sense, proposals will be issued to list the elements not contemplated in the standard, the parameters related to efficiency that must be taken into account and the eco-efficiency models that can be extrapolated.

The objective is to help define the reference model for a standardized proposal for the configuration of refrigerated furniture based on new energy requirements. The proposals developed by the Eurovent group at this meeting are especially important because the standard will not be updated before the entry into force of EPREL (European Product Database for Energy Labelling), which is expected in the coming months.
