Eurovent has become a member of the Cool Coalition, a global initiative led by the UN Environment Programme. The initiative aims to promote access to efficient, climate-friendly cooling for both industrialized and developing countries. Eurovent joins the network of more than 100 partners to help achieve better standards and regulations across the globe in support of the Coalition’s objectives.
Cool Coalition members are collaborating on science, policy, finance, and technology to meet growing demands for cooling in the context of rising climate ambition. It brings together governments, cities, international organizations, businesses, finance, academia, and civil society groups, engaged in knowledge exchange, advocacy, and joint action towards a rapid global transition to efficient and climate-friendly cooling.
Mr Felix Van Eyken, Eurovent Secretary General: “The demand for cooling and refrigeration will rise exponentially over the coming decades. We must ensure fair and equal access to it while concentrating on reducing its carbon footprint. As an industry association, Eurovent has long been involved in the development of better standards and regulations at European level, strongly supporting energy efficiency measures and the transition to low-GWP refrigerants. It is our commitment to support a global approach to sustainable cooling and we look forward to actively cooperate with other Cool Coalition members.”

Cooling and refrigeration equipment supports critical infrastructure in the healthcare, food cold chain, IT and building sectors notably. It enables the production, transportation and storage of pharmaceuticals and food, replenishes and conditions the air in hospitals and grocery stores, and ensures the operation of data centres and telecommunication infrastructure.
The Cool Coalition is a global multi-stakeholder network that connects more than 100 actors to facilitate knowledge exchange, advocacy and joint action towards a rapid global transition to sustainable cooling. Led by UNEP, the Cool Coalition is one of the official outcomes and ‘Transformation Initiatives’ put forward by the Executive Office of the Secretary-General for the UN Climate Action Summit in New York.
