The fourth phase of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is on the horizon with the deadline for Action Plan submissions set for December 5.
And sector pioneer Green Zone Surveys is in a pole position to streamline a process aimed at reducing UK emissions by 78 percent come 2035, on the journey towards a net zero future.
ESOS compliance
“We understand that there’s a lot to get to grips with when it comes to the issue of compliance around ESOS,” says Ben Palmer, Green Zone Surveys’ Technical Manager.
“It can be a daunting process but it needn’t be. We are set up to help firms submit their new Action Plans ahead of the December 5 deadline and that includes navigating the new MESOS portal."
energy audits
“Green Zone Surveys were lead assessors on the portal and so we’re perfectly positioned to steer firms through the upload efficiently and effectively."
“It’s also important to say that any energy audits done now will count towards ESOS Phase 4 final submissions. The deadline for the fourth phase is December 2027, it might seem like a long way off but our advice is to prepare well in advance.”
GreenAudit software
Assisting with ESOS submissions is central to a longstanding commitment to assisting firms
Ben and the Green Zone Surveys team use their industry-pioneering GreenAudit software to identify the best solutions for clients keen to maximize their energy efficiency.
Assisting with ESOS submissions is central to a longstanding commitment to assisting firms in reducing carbon emissions and making energy savings across the board. A shift in focus from previous stages of ESOS will see Phase 3 and 4 Action Plans made public and companies will be held accountable for meeting stated targets.
Display Energy Certificates
“If, in the past, ESOS was seen by some as little more than a box-ticking exercise then that’s changed,” adds Ben. “One previous route to compliance, Display Energy Certificates (DECs), is no longer an option."
"Those companies that used this route and which don’t have ISO 50001 that covers 95 percent of their business will have to use energy audits for future ESOS compliance. I’d encourage those companies to talk to us now and avoid the cliff edge of the December 5 deadline.”
Non-financial benefits
Non-financial benefits around ESOS compliance include:
- Improved workforce conditions
- Product Quality
- Staff productivity and wellbeing
- Customer experience
- Maintenance and fault detection
- Reduced noise from production lines.
