Tradespeople will now be able to face the ongoing battle of complying with building regulations for mechanical ventilation as Elta Fans returns to the market via a new dedicated division, Elta Trade.

With many people not realizing that residential ventilation systems must adhere to the building's regulations alongside needing to test its airflow rates, Elta Trade aims to help contractors ensure their setup is compliant.

Damp and mold problems

According to the 2021 English Housing Survey conducted by the government, around 904,000 homes in England are impacted by damp and mold problems. In February 2023, the Housing Ombudsman reported a 77% increase in the enquiries and complaints of damp, mold, and leaks from 2020-21 to 2021-22.

Elta Fans aims to address this headfirst by launching a dedicated brand

Elta Fans aims to address this headfirst by launching a dedicated brand specializing in helping tradespeople find the most suitable fans and ancillaries to tackle these issues.

Due to damp and mold occurring from poor airflow, the Elta Trade team is now on hand to ensure that the system is in line with the relevant regulations and capable of creating enough movement. As a result of this, clients will be able to prevent this concern and avoid costly repairs to their homes in the future.

Range of products

Serving electricians, plumbers, and homeowners working on air management in properties, Elta Trade will offer fans and ventilation solutions for homes, alongside accessories such as grilles, filters, and control switches.

The range of products will be available through electrical wholesalers such as the Flux DMEV, a continuous running trickle and boost fan alongside single room heat recovery and positive input ventilation (PIV) units.

Tom Bell, Elta Trade Manager, commented: “When creating a home ventilation system, choosing the correct solution can be a difficult task. At Elta Fans, we provide a variety of products from axial fans all the way to air handling units (AHUs). It seemed only right that we made the jump and formed Elta Trade, allowing tradespeople to easily find and install fans from a reputable brand they know.”

Alongside expert advice, tradespeople will also be able to find the compliant ventilation rate for a room through the Elta Trade calculator. By completing a few simple steps, users will be able to easily comply with building regulations and provide good indoor air quality.

Prevention of damp and mold growth

Vikrant Bhatt, Director at Elta Fans, also went on to say: “Elta Fans has been in the ventilation industry for nearly 50 years, and we want to continue that legacy by creating a dedicated division for the trade market. Having well-ventilated homes with clean air has so many benefits, including the prevention of damp and mold growth, along with boosted mood and increased energy for occupants."

He adds, "Our motto throughout Elta Group is enhancing life through air, and that’s why Elta Trade is so important as it will play an integral role to making homes better, and the lives of tradespeople easier too.”
