Green construction innovators, Dura Products, have revealed its heavy-duty combined kerb and drainage system, Duradrain, has been installed in 12 countries across Europe.
The recent expansion to central, north, and Eastern Europe, demonstrates the appetite across the continent for safe, affordable, and environmentally responsible construction solutions.
Benefits in 12 countries
The 12 countries enjoying the widespread benefits of the combined kerb and drainage system, which comprises 70% recycled material in every 500mm unit, include UK and Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, and Romania.
The solution, which provides an efficient and safe method of draining highways, car parks, and any surface or structure with a kerb edge, has been used in a wide range of construction projects.
installations

Notable installations include the biggest single infrastructural investment ever undertaken in County Mayo, Ireland.
The 20.3km dual carriageway formed part of Wills Bam JV’s €241 million N5 upgrade project. Meanwhile, in Landgraaf, Netherlands, Dura Products solutions were used to install a safe cycle lane running adjacent to a key stretch of road.
reducing emissions
Dura Products’ expansion across Europe is a result of the company’s strategic investment in its overseas facilities and partnerships to meet demand. Alongside the company’s production facilities in Romania, it is working with stockists in six European countries - the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Hungary, and Romania enabling them to expand to previously inaccessible territories.
Its stockist in Elsloo, Netherlands, for example, has allowed the company to expand north to Denmark and Sweden, while the production facilities in Iasi, Romania, have seen the Deeside-based company secure projects as far east as Bulgaria, Croatia, and Slovenia.
What’s more, by investing in these facilities, it is honoring its long-term goal of holding more stock locally to reduce the emissions generated during transportation.
Global recognition and energy efficiency
The surge in popularity for Duradrain across Scandinavia and mainland Europe mirrors that domestically
The surge in popularity for Duradrain across Scandinavia and mainland Europe mirrors that domestically. The product, which has a carbon footprint of just 10.3kg of carbon dioxide per unit, was installed at the Merseyside Police Headquarters in Liverpool, as part of the wider objective to create a built environment that meets the latest standards in energy efficiency.
In addition, Duradrain’s sustainable credentials have caught the eye of internationally recognized brands, such as Costa Coffee, who installed it to drain the cark park and the drive-thru lane of its branch in Catscliffe, Rotherham.
green construction
Dura Products has long been a pioneer in green construction. Its products, in addition to being created out of high recycled plastic content and having low carbon outputs, require little energy use during transportation and installation, due to their lightweight composition.
They also have unlimited end-of-life potential; as each unit can be reused, recycled and carbon recovered.
European expansion
Commenting on the expansion into new European territories, Steve Bennett, Managing Director of Dura Products said, “We are experiencing a very exciting time of growth for the company, with demand for innovative, green construction increasing each day."
"Helping the global construction industry to lower its environmental footprint has always been our ambition, and it’s great to see it come to fruition. Importantly, too, thanks to the strategic positioning of our stockists, we can sustainably do this by minimizing emissions generated by transportation.”
