On September 6, Hami 50MW tower CSP station developed by Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) achieved full load power generation.

The outlet salt temperature of the heat receiver reached the design value of 565, the main steam temperature is 535, and the grid-connected load was 50 MWe. The project was located in Hami, western China, one of the regions with the best solar energy resources in China.

Heat collection system

DEC has developed for this project a concentrating heat collection system

DEC has developed for this project a concentrating heat collection system, an ultra-high pressure double-cylinder condensing steam turbine featuring single reheating and direct air-cooling, and a complete set of steam turbine control, monitoring and protection systems.

The power station equipped with 14,500 heliostats is expected to provide clean, stable and adjustable high-quality power to the grid with nearly 200 GWh per year. By configuring a 13-hour heat storage system, a continuous and stable operation of the unit for 24 hours can be ensured.

Amid the efforts to peak carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutrality, the 24-hour continuous power generation of the system will become a unique advantage in conducting deep peak shaving for renewable energy in the future.
