Dixon Group has again demonstrated its expertise and experience in planning and completing large commercial mechanical installations – and in meeting the highest standards – on two impressive new care home builds.

Yorkare Homes chose the specialist, Dixon Integrated Services (DIS) division to complete the full plumbing, heating, air-conditioning and building management systems installations, on two of its latest developments.

Louth Manor, a 72 bedroom facility in Lincolnshire, was completed in April, and the finishing touches are now being made to a 66 bedroom home in Cottingham, East Yorkshire, following handover. Both offer the highest standards of care environments and boast facilities, including an in-house bar, a full beauty salon and hairdressing room, a cinema and terraces from each floor.

Work for Dixon Integrated Services included the initial design and consultancy, the installation of en-suite wet rooms in all bedrooms at both facilities, kitchenettes in premium suites and zoned underfloor heating systems.

Their teams also installed air conditioning systems and heating plants at both facilities

Their teams also installed air conditioning systems and heating plants at both facilities, linked to Building Management Systems (BMS), which each have their own bespoke software, in order to ensure heating and water temperatures are controlled at all times, and run at maximum efficiency to reduce costs.

Shaun Lamming, Head of Operations at DIS, said “These two new care homes are a great example of East Yorkshire expertise coming together to produce exceptional developments. We were contracted directly by the Hull-based building specialists - Hobson & Porter, who we have worked for many times before, and of course Yorkare are an East Yorkshire business which is leading the field in the care home sector given the quality of facilities it builds and operates.

Energy efficiency and cost savings

He adds, “Projects of this size and complexity, given the hundreds of products which need to be installed, really provides us the chance to demonstrate our expertise. We start from a design and consultancy role to ensure we plan for best value in every aspect and see that right through to the end of project when handing over facilities which benefit from their own bespoke building management systems.

Shaun Lamming adds, “These are more important than ever in the current climate of spiraling energy costs, as they ensure optimum energy performance and efficiency. As a business which has operated in this region for five decades, we pride ourselves on our partnership working, and these two developments are great examples of that.

Dixon Group

Dixon Group had previously completed two previous care home installations in Hessle and Hornsea. It has also been contracted for another new Yorkare development, a 57 bedroom care home in Horsforth, Leeds, which is due to open in January 2023.
