Growing their already extensive brazed plate heat exchanger portfolio, Danfoss proudly unveils their latest innovations featuring the Micro Plate™ technology.

With increasing regulations on the climate harming F-gas refrigerants worldwide, Danfoss steps up to meet the demand for products that operate with more climate-friendly natural refrigerants, such as R290 propane.

Danfoss’ new innovative brazed plate heat exchangers

Danfoss has introduced three innovative brazed plate heat exchangers

Danfoss has introduced three innovative brazed plate heat exchangers designed for residential propane heat pumps. Leading the lineup is the H39L-EZU, which boasts a low channel volume and minimal water-side pressure drop, enhancing efficiency.

The H62L-CZ features an asymmetric plate design, specifically tailored for R290 reversible heat pumps. Completing the trio is the HDW30-C, an ultra-safe solution for condenser or desuperheater applications, ensuring that fluids remain securely separated to prevent any cross-contamination.

Expert support in comfort and industrial applications

Danfoss provides heat pump manufacturers (OEMs) with expert support in comfort and industrial applications, encompassing system design, performance optimization, simulation tools, testing facilities, and manufacturing simplification. OEMs can accelerate the green transition with the new and extended brazed plate heat exchanger range for residential and light commercial heat pumps.

Commenting on the extension of the brazed plate heat exchanger propane portfolio, Mads Pinnerup, Head of Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers, Danfoss, stated: “We are excited to announce the latest extensions of our propane heat pump portfolio. It’s designed to advance energy efficiency and to lower the carbon footprint of heat pumps.

Danfoss offers cutting-edge solutions

Mads Pinnerup added, “This innovative series reflects our ongoing commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions that reduce carbon emissions, while delivering reliable, sustainable and cost optimized heat transfer solutions. As we continue to evolve with the changing energy landscape, propane heat pumps offer a forward-thinking approach to cleaner, more efficient energy use in both residential and commercial applications.

Product range

H39L-EZU evaporator

The new propane H39L-EZU evaporator can function efficiently as an evaporator or a condenser

The new propane H39L-EZU evaporator can function efficiently as an evaporator or a condenser, providing with a state-of-the-art heat transfer solution for the reversible system.

In addition to Micro Plate™ technology, the H39L-EZU has a special mixing chamber that creates excellent conditions for two-phase refrigerants and features superheating regions that enable optimal phase shift.

This result in great refrigerant distribution with no degradation on part load and means that the heat exchanger is less sensitive to the refrigerant’s connection size.

Technical specifications

  • Cover material: AISI 304L
  • Plate material: AISI 316L
  • Brazing material: Copper
  • Connection material: AISI 304L
  • Working temperatures from -196°C (-320 °F) to 200°C (390 °F)
  • Max. Working pressure: 49 bar (711 psi) ref. side / 25 bar (363 psi) water side
  • Capacity: 5-15 kW

H62L-CZ condenser

The H62L-CZ is a condenser optimized for use in R290 heat pumps and chillers. The new asymmetric Z-design Micro Plates™ has different flow channels on the refrigerant side which improve heat transfer, reduce the amount of material used and minimize the pressure loss on the water side.

Technical specifications

  • Cover material: AISI 304L
  • Plate material: AISI 316L
  • Brazing material: Copper
  • Connection material: AISI 304L
  • Working temperatures from -196°C (-320 °F) to 200°C (390 °F)
  • Max. working pressure: 49 bar (711psi) ref. side / 25 bar (363 psi) water side
  • Capacity: 20-70 kW

HDW30-C & HDW44-C double wall condenser / desuperheater

HDW30-C and HDW44-C are double wall heat exchangers designed for applications where the liquids are not allowed to mix. A double wall heat exchanger prevents the primary flow to be mixed with the secondary flow if there is an internal leak in the unit by leading the leaking liquid out of the heat exchanger.

The main applications are condensers or desuperheaters in heat pump systems for hot sanitary water.
