With more commercial buildings adopting AI and connectivity solutions to optimize energy consumption and identify maintenance needs before they reach a critical stage, building owners and managers are facing the challenge of integrating multiple devices into their building management system (BMS).

The new X-Gate gateway from Danfoss meets that challenge by enabling effective communication between devices that use different communication standards.

Danfoss’ System Manager 800A

An advanced Linux-based device, X-Gate enables seamless integration, ensuring that information flows smoothly between field devices and a local monitoring system, such as Danfoss’ System Manager 800A and others. It works by translating protocols from data sources to the destination device.

Protocols supported are Modbus RTU or TCP/IP; BACnet MS/TP or IP; and CAN Bus. In addition to integrating devices into System Manager, X-Gate can also integrate System Manager and other Danfoss devices into a general BMS.

DIN-rail mounting design

The unit can be easily installed into an electrical panel thanks to the DIN-rail mounting design and a user-friendly web interface, offering access control with user profiles and passwords, is available for the complete system configuration and maintenance over the lifetime of the product.

X-Gate also offers an expansion module to accommodate additional features. An RS485 module can fit easily on the main board for a single product installation effect.

Next step in building connectivity

X-Gate represents the next step in building connectivity,” said Michael Kellerman, director of EC&S business development at Danfoss.

Building owners and facility managers will be able to integrate devices with different communication protocols into one system, allowing them to optimize their energy consumption and ultimately reduce operating costs.”
