The Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) is pleased to announce the selection of Ann R. Klee as Chair of the C2ES Board of Directors.

Ann R. Klee, who has served on the C2ES Board for 11 years, brings a unique perspective on the interplay between business and government in solving the complex environmental challenges the world faces today. She is taking the role at a key time for the organization, which has doubled in size in the past two years.

New Chair of the C2ES Board of Directors appointed

The organization’s mission – to accelerate the transition to a thriving, just, and resilient net-zero economy"

I am honored to step into a leadership role on the C2ES Board. As national leaders work to develop bolder policies to accelerate the transition to a clean energy future and address climate change, C2ES is positioned to act as a trusted convener of key stakeholders and source for independent and reliable technology and policy expertise,” said Ann R. Klee.

She adds, “The organization’s mission – to accelerate the transition to a thriving, just, and resilient net-zero economy – is more important than ever, and I look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders to achieve that goal. I am excited to work with the rest of the Board and with the organization’s leadership to continue to grow C2ES’s scope, effectiveness, and impact.

Extensive industry experience

Ann R. Klee succeeds Ted Roosevelt IV, who has chaired the C2ES Board of Directors since its inception as an independent organization in 2011. A widely acknowledged expert in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, Ann Klee was previously a Global Vice President at GE, responsible for environmental compliance, risk management and sustainability, as well serving as the President of the GE Foundation.

Prior to her career at GE, Ann was a Partner and Co-Chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Group of Crowell & Moring, LLP, based in Washington DC. Ann spent 12 years in senior positions in the federal government, including as General Counsel of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Counselor and Special Assistant to the Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, and Chief Counsel to the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. Roosevelt will remain on the C2ES Board.

Expert skillset and vast C2ES experience

During her 11 years on the board, Ann has been party to countless C2ES successes"

Ted Roosevelt IV stated, “During her 11 years on the board, Ann has been party to countless C2ES successes, but perhaps among her greatest contributions is that she chaired two search committees that targeted and recruited incredible candidates for the role of Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES) President — Bob Perciasepe in 2014 and now Nat Keohane.

He adds, “Her skillset and experience working on the Hill and as General Counsel for the EPA bring a foundation of deep understanding of policy, politics, and governance, making her an excellent fit to chair the C2ES Board. Working in partnership with Nat, Ann is singularly qualified to drive C2ES to the next level and continue its vital work to build a thriving, just, and resilient economy.

Addressing climate action

Nathaniel Keohane, the President of Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), said “Having had the privilege of working closely with Ann since I joined C2ES two years ago, I can think of no one better to succeed Ted as Board Chair."

He adds, "Her wide-ranging experience in both the public and private sectors, and her deep knowledge of the organization, makes her the perfect fit to lead our board at this critical time for climate action.
