Automated Logic announced its enhanced weather add-on software for the WebCTRL® building automation system, providing facilities staff with access to real-time outdoor air quality.

This data can be used in predictive control strategies to prevent pollutants from entering a building through the HVAC system, delivering healthier and more comfortable indoor environments. Automated Logic, a provider of innovative building-management solutions, is a part of Carrier Global Corporation, a global pioneer in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

WebCTRL

With the latest weather add-on, WebCTRL communicates with weather forecasting agencies including AccuWeather®, the U.S. National Weather Service, and Environment Canada, eliminating the need for building owners to install costly outside air quality sensors.

During times of high pollution, such as wildfires with heavy smoke, the data can be used to control how much outside air is allowed in the building.

We are excited to incorporate outdoor air quality data with our existing weather add-on"

Facilities professionals can create their own custom control strategies using the outdoor air quality data, or they can deploy best-in-class ASHRAE Guideline 36 compliant control sequences that will automatically adjust ventilation rates based on current and past data.

We are excited to incorporate outdoor air quality data with our existing weather add-on, enhancing our portfolio of healthy building solutions,” said Axel Reichert, President, Automated Logic, adding “We want to help building operators protect what’s most important, the health of those inside.”

retrieves air quality components

The weather add-on retrieves air quality components including fine particulate matter, ozone, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and carbon monoxide.

It also retrieves hourly weather forecast data for temperature, dew point, wet bulb temperature, and humidity.

predictive control strategies

The hourly precipitation forecast also included rain, snow, and ice, along with the wind conditions for direction, speed, and gust. This data can be used in predictive control strategies to optimize indoor environments, or it can be displayed within the WebCTRL user interface.

WebCTRL is an advanced solution within Carrier’s Healthy Buildings Program suite of offerings that can help enable healthier and safer indoor environments.
