The German Bundestag passed the Building Energy Act (GEG) last week. The law brings together the Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV) and the Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEWärmeG). "With the adoption of the GEG, the energy saving law for buildings will be reduced and simplified. Construction specialists also receive planning security, ”comments Dr. Lothar Breidenbach, Managing Director Technology at the BDH. The association also rates it positively that no further tightening of the energetic requirements has been made for both new and existing buildings. This would avoid an increase in costs.
In the future, the GEG will also facilitate the use of biomethane in the verification process and to meet the obligation to use renewable energies in new buildings. According to the association, biomethane can make a contribution to climate protection in both CHP systems and condensing boilers. Another positive signal is the strengthening of local photovoltaic systems.
During the opinion-forming process on the GEG, the BDH took on a coordinating role for the industry. The association sees the law that has now been passed as a successful achievement in terms of technology openness, particularly in the area of renewable energies.
