The ‘Heating with Renewable Energies’ funding scheme that came into effect at the beginning of the year as part of the climate package is taking effect on the market. According to the responsible Federal Office for Economics and Export Control (BAFA), a total of 130,697 funding applications were received in the first half of 2020.
In the same period last year, the number of applications was 42,355. “The amended incentive program is a success model. It shows that people are ready to invest in modern heating technology and in climate protection,” comments BDH President Uwe Glock.
Surface heating systems
Not only the heat generators but also the heat distribution and heat transfer are covered by the new funding
Now it is important that politicians secure the financial resources for the program. This, according to Glock, not only contributes to climate protection, but it also safeguards work and employment in times of the corona pandemic.
The BDH points out that in the case of a modernization of the existing building, not only the heat generators but also the heat distribution and heat transfer are covered by the new funding. These include, for example, surface heating systems and radiators, but also thermostatic valves and circulation pumps.
Modern heating system
“A modern heating system consists of several components: heat generation, heat distribution, heat transfer, and storage. In order for a heating system to develop its full potential for efficiency, these components must be perfectly coordinated. The amended funding takes this into account,” says Dr. Roger Schönborn, Chairman of the Heat Transfer Department at the BDH.
Both the investment costs and the costs for installation and commissioning as well as the costs of the necessary environmental measures are eligible for funding. The amount of funding is calculated as a percentage of the eligible costs actually incurred for replacing or expanding the heating system.
