The Federal Association of the German Heating Industry (BDH) is focusing more on the energy networking of the building. In January, the association invited to a cross-sector discussion of common use cases. As part of the BDH Use Case Workshop, use cases for the operation and the interaction of all energy-relevant producers and consumers in the networked building were discussed. For the experts, the focus was on exchanging ideas with participants from other industries.
In order to achieve the climate goals, it is necessary to increase the proportion of decentralized energy from renewable sources that are available in a volatile manner. As a result, there will be increasing digital networking of electrical generators, storage systems and consumers in the future. This includes the energetically relevant products in the building - and thus also the heating.

With the nationwide rollout of electric cars at the latest, the power at the network connection point of a building will no longer be available at all times in the future. The solution for this is provided by decentralized energy management systems, so-called Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS). They coordinate all producers and consumers in the building and will be almost indispensable in the future against the background described.
“As part of the use case workshop, the participants discuss new use cases for their energetically networked products. Our goal is to transfer these use cases to the cross-sector EEBUS standard so that the benefits of networking reach the end customer quickly,” explains Dieter Kehren, Head of the Digital Heating Forum at the BDH.

The heating as a central element of the energetically networked building is also a topic at this year's E-World trade fair, which takes place from February 11th to 13th in Essen. Here the EEBUS initiative uses products that are already available on the market to show which applications are possible using energy management.
