CEFAS is the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science and a pioneer in marine science and technology.

Adcock has moved four existing coldstores from CEFAS, located in Lowestoft, for facilities management company Interserve FM Ltd who are assisting with site preparation for major demolition, change and refurbishment works to one of the buildings onsite. Adcock was asked by Interserve FM to move the coldstores.

Temperature alarm system

Cefas have relocated these coldrooms to allow for demolition works to take place. One of the units were moved into an existing basement onsite whilst the three other units were cleaned and dismantled and moved by truck to another site in Lowestoft. The three coldstore units were rebuilt and re-commissioned including a person trapped alarm and high and low temperature alarm system.

Adcock has a long-standing relationship with the client and the original coldstores were moved to the CEFAS site 15 years ago by them. Their engineers have also been maintaining the equipment to ensure it has been kept in good working order throughout this time. Due to the costal location and winter weather, works were halted on two occasions as conditions were unsafe, however Adcock planned and rescheduled the moves over a tight schedule to meet the client’s needs.
