The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) announces the reaffirmation of the ACCA 6 QR and ACCA 14 QMref for ANSI status. These and ACCA’s other Quality Standards outline the procedures for contractors to follow when designing, installing, maintaining, repairing, and verifying heating and cooling systems.

ANSI standards

The Quality Standards are recognized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), which has been adopted by utilities, government agencies, manufacturers, and others nationwide.

The Quality Standards guide to making buildings truly energy efficient while ensuring the comfort of all occupants. “ACCA’s review of the above standards was conducted by ANSI’s essential requirements,” said David Bixby, ACCA manager of codes and standards.

Cleanliness of HVAC systems

Once a standard is approved by ANSI, it must be reviewed every five years to determine whether it requires additional changes or updates, reaffirmation if no changes are needed, or withdrawal. In the case of these two standards, reaffirmation was chosen since no changes were identified during the review process.”

The ACCA 6 QR provides minimum requirements to restore the cleanliness of residential and commercial HVAC systems by manufacturer or customer-specified criteria.
