A. O. Smith Corporation, a platinum sponsor for the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) Hot Water Forum, will participate at the only national conference focused exclusively on the water heating industry. This year’s event will highlight ways water systems can help save money, decrease building greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reduce harmful pathogens.

The virtual conference runs March 21-23 and will bring together manufacturers, utility professionals, government officials, energy efficiency program planners, plumbers, policymakers, non-government organizations, engineers, and consultants to talk about the future of water heating.

Future sustainability plans

According to the ACEEE website, the emergence of new water heating technologies and the Biden administration’s emphasis on workforce development and building decarbonization are driving fresh opportunities for the hot water industry to meet GHG reduction, grid resilience, and equity challenges.

This event comes at a pivotal time as we work to meet our corporate greenhouse gas reduction goal"

This event comes at a pivotal time as we work to meet our corporate greenhouse gas reduction goal of 10% by 2025,” said Josh Greene, Vice President of government and industry affairs, A. O. Smith. “This goal is an important step for A. O. Smith to help further advance our innovation efforts as we work to mitigate the impact we have on the environment.” Greene will present on March 23 during a session titled, Sustainability and Water Heating Manufacturers: Successes, Challenges and the Future. It will highlight the company’s current sustainability program, considerations for workforce training, and future sustainability plans.

Water heater landscape

There will also be a residential heat pump water heater (HPWH) panel on March 22, which will include Robert Aldrich, Director of residential segment development at A. O. Smith. This session will share multiple manufacturers’ perspectives on where the 120V HPWH will fit into the overall water heater landscape, technical and commercial product challenges, and suggestions for implementing policies to promote this product.

As energy and water demand increases, our customers and communities look to us to provide products and solutions that help reduce energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions,” said Greene. “This conference gives A. O. Smith a platform to talk about our commitment to sustainability, and it also offers us the opportunity hears first-hand what matters most to our customers and industry peers when it comes to energy efficiency in water heating.”
