SODECA has announced, on European Radon Day, the launch of a new micro-learning session focused on ventilation solutions to mitigate radon concentrations in indoor spaces.
The session will take place on Tuesday, 19th November, at 11 a.m. (UTC/GMT +1), online, with free registration available for anyone interested. The session will be led by Carlos Martínez, an Environmental Engineer and Head of Training and Knowledge Transfer at SODECA.
microlearning sessions
SODECA’s microlearning sessions are remote training events featuring expert speakers on topics in which the company has significant expertise. They last about half an hour, making them brief yet highly valuable in terms of learning.
This time, the training will cover the design and calculation of ventilation systems to mitigate radon, a radioactive contaminant of natural origin released through the decay of uranium. This decay results in the emission of high-energy alpha particles, which can damage DNA and cause mutations and tumors.
lung cancer cases
WHO warns that the risk of developing this type of cancer is ten times higher in individuals who are exposed to radon
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that up to 14% of lung cancer cases worldwide can be attributed to radon exposure, making it the second major cause of lung cancer after tobacco.
Additionally, the WHO warns that the risk of developing this type of cancer is ten times higher in individuals who are exposed to radon and are also smokers.
ventilation systems
This session is part of a series of microlearning events that began on 1st October. Through this training cycle, SODECA aims to equip industry specialists with the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage and implement ventilation systems across various environments.
Additionally, the online format ensures the training is accessible to professionals from diverse locations.
Commitment to Learning
SODECA, a company in industrial ventilation solutions, smoke evacuation, tunnel ventilation, stairwell pressurization, and indoor air quality improvement reaffirms its commitment to continuous learning and free training for industry professionals through these educational sessions.
Anyone interested in the session on Tuesday, 19th November, titled 'Ventilation Solutions for Radon Gas Mitigation', can register for free through the website link.
