Mitsubishi Electric has announced the launch of its latest air-source chillers and heat pumps, developed by the company’s Italian factory.
air-source chillers and heat pumps
The new range offers an R32 air-cooled chiller (the MECH-iS-G07) and an R32 air-source reversible heat pump chiller (the MEHP-iS-G07). Both are manufactured to the exacting standards of quality associated with the company’s Mitsubishi Electric Quality, produced in Italy for the first time.
Both systems are highly efficient and operate using R32 refrigerant, which has a lower GWP (global warming potential) of 677. The new range features variable-speed scroll compressors and is available in seven sizes. Each system is also available in three modules to offer a cooling capacity range from 50 to 220KW.
MEHP-iS-G07
MEHP-iS-G07 offers domestic hot water production even at very low outdoor temperatures down to -20°C
MEHP-iS-G07, the new reversible heat pump, offers high efficiency at partial loads, and its silent nature and compact design make it the ideal solution for comfort applications, including hospitality venues such as hotels.
As well as producing hot water for comfort heating applications up to 65°C, it offers domestic hot water production even at very low outdoor temperatures down to -20°C.
fully hydronic IT Cooling package
The MECH-iS-G07 chiller is designed for process and IT cooling. With the ability to produce cold water across a wider range of temperatures - down to -20°C of outdoor air temperature, and with extremely reliable components that can offer 24/7 cooling, it provides an efficient solution for any process application.
When used alongside indoor CRAH (Computer Room Air Handler) VSD scroll compressors units, the MECH-iS-G07 offers the first fully hydronic IT Cooling package for small and medium enterprise data centers, ready to pave the way to the forthcoming hydronic transition of the sector.
VSD scroll compressors
Exclusive to these new chillers are the Mitsubishi Electric VSD (Variable Speed Drive) scroll compressors, which are optimized for R32 refrigerant and offer high seasonal efficiency, continuous capacity modulation, stable leave water temperature, and perfect and accurate load delivery in all working conditions.
Four innovative models of compressors are available on three different performing chassis to offer flexibility in design and operation.
lifetime performance
At Mitsubishi, we know the absolute quality of every component and part within our products"
Simon Prichard, Product Strategy Manager for Central Plant, explained that “At Mitsubishi, we know the absolute quality of every component and part within our products."
He adds, "Everything has been looked at from the design of the axial fans to the materials used in the coils and coatings so that we can deliver the products and lifetime performance that our customers expect.”
Poka-Yoke system design
The new models are also designed using the Japanese ‘Poka-Yoke’ system design, which roughly translates as ‘mistake proofing’ or ‘avoiding surprises’.
Each element has been examined to ensure connection and installation is as straightforward and error-free as possible: “Color-coded connectors and different shaped pins ensure that each PCB connection avoids any possibility of error,” said Simon Prichard, adding “Quick couplers for the fans also help to reduce connection time and ensure safe and pressure-tight connections.”
plug and play solutions
These plug-and-play solutions offer in-built reliability and ease of maintenance due to their ultra-accessible service ports. With integrated pump kits and buffer tanks, the units are also designed to make modular installation more straightforward.
They also offer advanced controls, including a new smart defrost algorithm, a new touchscreen control panel, and the KIPLink, which allows Mitsubishi Electric products to be controlled remotely from smartphones, tablets, or notebooks.
