Ground Source Heat Pump brand, The Kensa Group, respond to the anti-heat pump campaign which was recently revealed.
CEO's comment
Dr. Matthew Trewhella, CEO of The Kensa Group comments, "The smoke is clearing... The public is becoming savvy to polluting gas' dirty PR tactics. We daren't think about the damage these efforts have had on our progress to decarbonization."
"Such PR campaigns fanning miseducation will not lead the UK towards a sustainable and attainable future."
Identifying and addressing gaps
"Industry should work together to ensure a better outcome for all concerned - starting with:
- Address the spark gap and decouple gas and electricity prices: The UK needs to address the disproportion between the levies currently causing electricity to be more expensive than gas. We need to balance this bias so it is properly proportioned against carbon emissions. This will allow the cost benefits of efficient low-carbon electric technologies, such as heat pumps, to be fully realized.
- Identify optimum technologies for heat zoning - Making all methods and options available to all properties would be extremely inefficient and costly. The optimal approach is to identify the best heating solution in geographical zones to enable the rapid and mass transition to zero carbon heating and cooling, and energy security and affordability."
