Energy efficiency index

The new Chairman, Alberto Ferrandi stated: “After many years of working with polyvalent units I really believe that they can play an important role in the reduction of the carbon footprint of HVAC industry but need to be officially recognized their real values and credits with a clear indication of the advantages that this type of unit could offer.”

Current efficiency index conceived for Heat Pumps and Chillers are not representative of polyvalent units"

Francesco Di Giovanni, the new Product Group Vice-Chairman further added: “I am honored to be part of this task force. The work we are doing is critical as the Polyvalent units play a fundamental role in the decarbonization process. Current efficiency index conceived for Heat Pumps and Chillers are not representative of polyvalent units. As industry experts we are in the unique position to provide our knowledge to define a proper energy efficiency index for this technology.”

Heat recovery benefits

The Eurovent Task Force ‘Polyvalent Units’ (TF-POL) covers systems that provide intelligent solutions to air conditioning and heat pump requirements.

Polyvalent units are subjected to Regulations (EU) 813/2013 below 400kW and 2016/2281 above 400kW which penalize polyvalent units not fully accounting for heat recovery benefits. The Task Force is composed of participants of Eurovent Product Group ‘Air Conditioners’ (PG-AC) and Product Group ‘Liquid Chilling Packages and Heat Pumps’ (PG-LCP-HP).
