The number of meters of pipe sold for surface heating/cooling in the floor, wall, or ceiling reached a new record high in Germany at the end of 2018 at 212.8 million m.
With a growth of 15% compared to the previous year, surface heating/cooling is continuing the dynamic upswing that has started for years. This is communicated by the Federal Association of the German Heating Industry (BDH) and the Federal Association of Surface Heating and Surface Cooling (BVF).
Energy-Efficient Technology
“Surface heating/cooling is therefore still the most popular heat transfer system. This is also due to the fact that surface heating/cooling can be combined with all other heating systems. The energy-efficient technology seems to be predestined for the new construction of low-energy houses, but the manufacturers also offer suitable systems with the least possible installation effort for modernization," says Axel Grimm, BVF Managing Director.
“In addition to energy efficiency, the surface heating/cooling also ensures comfortable warmth throughout the year. The cooling potential in summer can also be easily combined in one system. All of these positive characteristics have ensured corresponding market growth for years,” says Andreas Lücke, General Manager of the BDH.
Areas of Application
In the past, surface heating/cooling was mainly installed in residential construction, but for some years now the industry has registered growing interest in non-residential construction.
In these areas of application, too, especially in office or hall buildings, the dual benefit of “heating and cooling” comes into play and also ensures a high level of comfort for users there.
