The current national emergency with COVID-19 is unprecedented and at Baxi Heating, they are doing their best to continue to keep UK homes, hospitals and businesses supplied with heating and hot water during this difficult period. The vital work they are doing at this time was highlighted), when they were contacted by a supplier that had been asked for 32 hot water heaters to equip NHS isolation units.

Although they had run out of stock of these water heaters, colleagues at the company’s factory in Bamber Bridge, Preston, realized how critical these water heaters would be for the NHS, and to the health of the country, and pulled out all the stops. The manufacturing schedule was immediately changed to prioritize these important products, and the order was fulfilled within a few hours, although their standard lead time is 10 days.

At this time, their highest priority is the safety of all their valued colleagues, and they are implementing a raft of measures to comply with government guidelines.

These steps include:

  • All office-based and field-based colleagues have been issued with health and safety guidelines and, where appropriate, PPE to reduce the risk of infection or contamination
  • The company is still manufacturing heating and hot water products for UK homes, businesses and hospitals. However, in order to keep their colleagues safe, they have spread out their production lines to ensure there is at least two meters between their operatives
  • Colleagues who can, are working from home
  • The company has restricted UK and international travel, limited meetings, or moved them online, and cancelled events and exhibitions for the foreseeable future

Baxi Heating has been manufacturing in Preston for over 150 years, and they intend to look after their colleagues, customers and business to ensure they will still be providing heat and hot water across the UK for the next 150 years.
